The Seven angels are also featured in the Dead Sea Scroll song of the Sabbath Sacrifice but 4 angels is much more common including in the book of Enoch. I'd been wondering about the 7 theme and found this article very helpful. As a huge fan of Ethiopia (people, food, art, Ge'ez), it was a real pleasure to read this article. In my book Delicious Prose where I talk about the fish itself in Tobit chapter six, I bring in a lot of data about large fish/sea monsters in world culture and within Israelite and Hellenistic writings that support what this wonderful article has said with further detail. For example in Ugaritic writings, Death is compared to a sea monster and in a passage in the so-called Isaian apocalypse God is said to "swallow death forever" which reverses the image of death swallowing God. The whole dragon slaying myth is also akin and well documented by many excellent books and articles. My best.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
